Searches found multiple outlets reporting that Iran (IRGC Navy, via state media) claimed vessels caught fire or exploded after hitting mines in the Strait of Hormuz. Maritime Executive reported an IRGC statement that a containership exploded and caught fire after striking a mine. gCaptain and JPost reported similar IRGC claims about tankers, and gCaptain noted these claims were not independently verified. UKMTO reported other vessels struck by unidentified projectiles. No Reuters, AFP, Bellingcat or EUvsDisinfo fact-check was found. The claim does not name a specific vessel, so I could not match it to one incident.
