Evidence

Searches show the statement was made and widely reported. Tasnim News Agency (Iranian state-linked) published the IRGC statement. It says that "last night", in two separate incidents, a large tanker tried to pass through an illegal passage south of the strait. The Times of Israel, Jerusalem Post, SBS and Siasat relayed it, citing Fars or local media. The IRGC said one tanker hit a mine south of the strait. It said a second supertanker caught fire exiting the eastern route, and a tugboat helping it also caught fire. House of Saud noted that UKMTO had not issued an advisory on these specific incidents. I found no independent confirmation that the fires happened as the IRGC described, or that the route was unauthorized or the cause was a mine. I found no Reuters, AFP, Bellingcat or EUvsDisinfo fact-check of the claim.

Assessment

Multiple outlets, including the Tasnim primary source, confirm the IRGC made this statement, so the attribution is accurate. The underlying events are not independently verified, so only the attribution is confirmed.

Confidence

Some independent corroboration was found, but it isn't yet conclusive.
