Multiple independent outlets — AFP (as cited by Bangkok Post, JNS, Israel National News, Al-Monitor), Al Jazeera, and The Media Line — reported on a confidential IAEA report seen by AFP stating that the Deir ez-Zor site struck by Israel in 2007 held infrastructure 'consistent with a nuclear reactor' and that authorities under the ousted Assad regime failed to declare nuclear material, facilities, and activities. The report followed IAEA inspectors gaining new access to the site after Assad's fall, reportedly with cooperation from Syria's interim government.
