Claim
Accused: Israel's Shin Bet coerced Palestinians it describes as faction activists in Gaza into targets for deadly strikes in order to spare families.
Attributed to Jerusalem Post report based on interviews with Gazans and their families
Evidence
The search found the Jerusalem Post article (jpost.com/israel-news/defense-news/article-913438). It does not rest on the paper's own interviews. It relays a report from the London-based Arabic-language outlet Asharq Al-Awsat. That report alleges Shin Bet phones targets in Gaza and tells them to choose between having their whole family bombed or being killed alone. The JPost says the IDF and Shin Bet were not approached for comment and that the specific cases in the report could not be confirmed. It adds that it understands similar operations have been carried out in the past. I found no Reuters, AFP, Bellingcat or EUvsDisinfo fact-check of the claim. I also found no independent corroboration, such as an Israeli official acknowledgment or a human rights group investigation. I did not retrieve or read the original Asharq Al-Awsat piece.

Assessment
The claim is accurately described as an allegation. It traces to a single Asharq Al-Awsat report, relayed by the JPost, which says it could not confirm the specific cases. No independent corroboration or fact-check was found. Note also that the JPost's source is Asharq Al-Awsat, not interviews it conducted itself.
Confidence
Little or no independent corroboration was found - this reflects the current state of public evidence, not a guess.
