Claim

Several prominent detainees were shot nine times in total.

Attributed to Middle East Eye

Evidence

A search found a Middle East Eye article titled 'Israeli prison guards shot prominent Palestinian detainees nine times'. It says Hassan Salameh was beaten and shot nine times in his cell last month, possibly with rubber-coated bullets, after Ben-Gvir stormed the prison. MEE attributes this to Salameh's fiancee, Ghufran Zamel, and to the Palestinian Prisoners' Society (PPS), which got the information from a lawyer's visit. The article text I could see names only Salameh, although the headline says 'detainees', plural. I found no independent corroboration, no Israeli Prison Service response and no Reuters, AFP or Bellingcat fact-check. A second round of searches failed because the search tool hit its usage limit.

Assessment

MEE did publish the claim, but it is an unverified allegation from a fiancee and a prisoners' group. I found no independent confirmation, no Israeli response and no fact-check. The headline's plural 'detainees' also doesn't match the single named victim in the text I saw.

Confidence

Little or no independent corroboration was found - this reflects the current state of public evidence, not a guess.
