Claim

Hassan Salameh was reportedly beaten and shot inside his cell by Israeli prison guards after National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir stormed the prison.

Attributed to his fiancee and a prisoner rights group

Evidence

One search found only Ahram Online (2 Nov 2026), which relays a Drop Site News report. In that report, Salameh's fiancée Ghufran al-Zamil said guards shot him nine times in his cell on 28 September. That was the day Ben-Gvir entered his cell, according to the Palestinian Prisoners' Centre. The Ahram article is secondary and attributes everything to Drop Site, the fiancée and the prisoners' group. Further searches hit a tool limit. I found no Israel Prison Service or Israeli government response. I found no independent confirmation, such as from Reuters or AFP. I found no fact-check from Reuters, AFP, Bellingcat or EUvsDisinfo. The Ahram snippet I saw also did not clearly say Salameh was beaten.

Assessment

The claim is correctly framed as a report, but it rests on his fiancée, a prisoners' group and one outlet relaying them. I found no independent corroboration, no official response and no fact-check.

Confidence

Little or no independent corroboration was found - this reflects the current state of public evidence, not a guess.
