Claim

Air strikes on a market in Taiz province killed or wounded more than 30 people on Friday morning, according to the Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV.

Evidence

One search found an AP report, carried by The Hill and KSL, on airstrikes that hit a market in al-Waziyah, Taiz province, on a Friday. It said a Houthi health ministry spokesperson told Al-Masirah TV that at least 20 people were killed and 15 wounded. The AP report said the death toll was expected to rise, which would put the combined total above 30. The Houthis blamed the Saudi-led coalition. Taiz authorities blamed the Houthis and said no airstrikes were carried out in the area. My follow-up searches failed because the search tool hit its usage limit. I therefore found no Reuters, AFP, Bellingcat or EUvsDisinfo fact-check, and no independent confirmation of who was responsible or of the casualty figures.

Assessment

The Al-Masirah attribution and the casualty figures (at least 20 killed plus 15 wounded) match the AP report. However, Taiz authorities denied that any airstrikes occurred and blamed the Houthis. I found no independent verification.

Confidence

Little or no independent corroboration was found - this reflects the current state of public evidence, not a guess.
