Multiple independent mainstream outlets corroborate this claim. NPR reported that the German government formally blamed Russia for an attempted drone attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport (using an explosive-laden drone in early August), announcing measures including closure of a Russian consulate. CNN separately reported that Germany's Interior Minister accused Russia of involvement in the foiled Leipzig drone attack, citing the minister's remarks about a pattern of 'drone sightings, drone threats including in a hybrid context.' Al Jazeera likewise reported German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt stating the August 4 attack fit a pattern of 'Russian hybrid operations.' A Wikipedia entry on the incident and on Russian hybrid warfare additionally references a U.S. intelligence source cited by ABC News regarding an explosive drone found near a Ukrainian aircraft at the airport. I did not find a dedicated fact-check from Reuters Fact Check, AFP Fact Check, Bellingcat, or EUvsDisinfo specifically adjudicating this claim (searches for such fact-checks did not return results before search access was exhausted), but the claim itself — that German authorities attributed the Leipzig drone incident to Russian sabotage — is directly and consistently corroborated by the on-the-record statements of Germany's Interior Minister as reported by multiple independent, reputable news organizations.
