Claim

Russia said it downed 142 Ukrainian drones overnight, a claim Kyiv Post could not independently verify.

Attributed to Russia

Evidence

Searches show Russia's Defence Ministry did report downing 142 Ukrainian drones overnight, on at least two occasions: 20 July 2025 (Reuters, including 27 over the Moscow region) and 6 Nov (TASS, Kyiv Post, bne IntelliNews, Euromaidan Press; Afipsky refinery attack). Kyiv Post's article attributes the figure to Russia. I found no Reuters, AFP, Bellingcat or EUvsDisinfo fact-check of this claim. No source I found independently verified the actual drone count.

Assessment

Multiple outlets confirm Russia made this statement, so the attribution is accurate. The number itself remains an unverified official claim, as the claim itself says.

Confidence

Some independent corroboration was found, but it isn't yet conclusive.
