The finding points to material limits on Washington's ability to sustain or repeat a large-scale campaign. The reported depletion carries direct implications for President Donald Trump's threat to subject Iran to the "biggest attack" since World War II if negotiations fail or the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened. Replenishing the stockpiles would take considerable time given production constraints, and the shortfall also affects US commitments to allies elsewhere.
