The World Health Organization said on Friday that it had recorded more than 10,000 attacks on healthcare facilities and workers across 29 countries and territories since 2018, but that no perpetrator had ever been brought to justice. The attacks resulted in roughly 5,700 deaths and 8,500 injuries, according to figures presented at a media briefing by Altaf Musani, director of the WHO's humanitarian and disaster management unit. The agency framed the lack of accountability as a systemic failure of international law enforcement amid multiple ongoing conflicts. The announcement comes as health infrastructure in several Middle Eastern conflict zones has been damaged during recent hostilities.
