Yemen's Houthi movement said it had attacked a Saudi Aramco refinery, an escalation that risks unravelling the truce that has largely held between the Iran-backed rebels and the Saudi-backed, internationally recognised Yemeni government since 2022. The claim followed a deadly Houthi strike on a vessel in the Red Sea. Yemen's government then said six Houthi ballistic missiles struck the government-held Red Sea port of al-Makha, killing at least four people. Officials described the attack as further evidence that the Houthis are abandoning the truce, and hostilities between the two sides have risen sharply in recent days. The escalation raises the prospect of a return to open ground and missile warfare in Yemen alongside the group's maritime attacks.
