The National Hurricane Center has spent the past week monitoring two to three disturbances in the Atlantic, with forecasters saying development is possible and that a tropical depression could form. Reports over successive days upgraded the outlook, from general disturbance monitoring to raised chances of development, as the systems moved off the west coast of Africa and elsewhere in the basin.
