Philippine weather authority Pagasa spent recent weeks tracking the effects of the southwest monsoon (habagat) and several low-pressure areas across the Visayas and elsewhere, generally forecasting fair-to-cloudy conditions with isolated rain and thunderstorms in Cebu and nearby regions. Most of the monitored systems, including Tropical Storm Peilou, were assessed as unlikely to significantly affect the Philippines or develop further.
