Ultra-Orthodox extremists rioted against construction of the Jerusalem Light Rail, with at least two people arrested, including one suspect detained for setting fire to part of the construction site. Israeli television reported that several demonstrators had previously been investigated over a June riot at the home of the deputy Supreme Court chief, pointing to a pattern of escalating Haredi unrest in the capital.
