Hawaii is bracing for Tropical Storm Moke, expected to bring more than a foot of additional rain and strong winds even as the state continues recovering from Hurricane Lala, which struck earlier in August and was later downgraded to a tropical storm. Hawaii Gov. Josh Green said officials are still assessing whether any storm-related deaths occurred from Lala, while cleanup and damage assessments continue on the Big Island. A cat sanctuary on Lanai reported that more than 700 cats survived Lala but the facility sustained $15,000-$20,000 in damages. Moke's approach over the following days threatens to compound recovery efforts, with residents facing another round of heavy rainfall and gusty winds shortly after the previous storm's impact.
