Hawaii's Big Island began recovery and damage-assessment efforts after Hurricane Lala was downgraded to a tropical storm and rolled past the island, dumping heavy rain across the archipelago; Gov. Josh Green said officials were still investigating possible storm-related deaths. Even as recovery continued, forecasters warned that a new system, Tropical Storm Moke, could bring more than a foot of additional rain to the already hurricane-stricken state.
