Ontario Premier Doug Ford unveiled a large billboard on Canada's Lake Ontario shoreline reading "Lake Ontario. Now and Always," in what is being seen as a symbolic jab amid ongoing trade tensions between Canada and the United States. The sign is the latest in a series of nationalist gestures amid the broader US-Canada trade dispute. The dispute escalated further after President Trump pushed Apple to rename "Lake Ontario" to "Lake America" on its maps, following Google's decision to make the same switch for US-based users over the weekend; MapQuest said it would not follow suit. Separately, analysts noted that despite recent tariff hikes, Canada still retains a comparatively better trade arrangement with the US than either the UK or the EU.
