Tensions between Iran and the United States escalated sharply after weeks of relative calm, with both sides trading strikes across the Gulf region. The US military said it completed a fresh wave of attacks on Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets in Iran, including air defense sites, radar systems, maritime assets, mine-laying capabilities and communications facilities, describing the strikes as retaliation for attempted IRGC attacks on commercial shipping. Iran's Foreign Ministry vowed to respond "with firmness" after a US strike hit a residential home in Kuhestak, Sirik, during a wedding; the death toll there has since risen to four, including a child, with more than 50 people wounded and rescue efforts ongoing. A separate US strike on Jiroft Airport in Kerman province caused only minimal damage and no casualties, Iranian officials said. Iran responded by striking a US base in Jordan, with the IRGC claiming it "killed a large number of US forces," though US and Jordanian officials said no American casualties had been reported and that Jordan's air defenses intercepted 10 of 13 incoming ballistic missiles, with the rest landing in remote areas. Iran also said it launched a large-scale drone attack on Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain, targeting radar installations and US personnel areas, prompting air raid sirens across Bahrain. Sirens also sounded in Jordan's Mafraq and Aqaba governorates and Kuwait's air defenses intercepted hostile drones, while three missiles aimed at Jordan were intercepted over southern Syria, reflecting a rapidly widening regional escalation as President Trump warned Iran would be "totally wiped out" if it continued to retaliate.
