Tropical Storm Peilou moved farther from the Philippines in early August and was assessed as unlikely to affect local weather. Later in the month, Tropical Cyclone Kiyapo (international name Noul) intensified into a tropical storm and then rapidly into a typhoon as it approached and later exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility, prompting PAGASA to raise wind signals over parts of Northern Luzon.
