Hawaii's Big Island began storm recovery and damage assessment efforts after Hurricane Lala, which was downgraded to a tropical storm overnight, passed near the island while dumping heavy rain across the state's archipelago. Hawaii Gov. Josh Green said at a news conference that officials were still investigating whether any deaths were linked to the storm.
