Yemen's internationally recognized government said its air force carried out more than 15 air strikes targeting Houthi fighters' sites, gatherings, and vehicles along the western coastal fronts in Taiz and Hodeidah provinces, after Houthi forces launched a major ground offensive. The strikes came amid a broader collapse of the 2022 ceasefire that had largely held for years. Fresh clashes between Saudi-backed government forces and Houthi rebels over control of a strategic gateway to the Red Sea killed more than 60 people, including 26 soldiers and civilians, according to Yemeni military and medical sources cited by AFP. Friday's fighting was described as among the deadliest in years, underscoring a significant escalation in the multi-front war since the ceasefire's July collapse.
