Moscow police detained at least three candidates from Russia's liberal Yabloko party who are running in State Duma elections, part of a pattern of pressure on opposition figures amid the war. Separately, Nikolai Bondarenko, a former Saratov regional lawmaker and popular YouTuber, was also targeted amid the crackdown. Russia's Central Election Commission has since canceled Bondarenko's registration as a Communist Party candidate for the State Duma after he posted a photo of jailed opposition figure Alexei Navalny, with twelve commission members voting for the decision and one against. The move adds to a broader pattern of authorities barring or detaining opposition-aligned candidates ahead of the elections.
