On September 3, Moscow's Simonovsky Court placed Lida Moniava, founder of the Dom s Mayakom children's hospice charity, under restrictions in a criminal case accusing her of spreading 'fake' information about the Russian military. Hundreds of supporters gathered outside the court in a show of solidarity. Moniava has since announced, via a post from friends on her Telegram channel, that she will step down as director of the Lighthouse Charity Foundation, which runs the hospice, and leave its board. She said she intends to remain in Russia despite the case against her, even as she steps back from her leadership role, a decision seen as an effort to shield the charity from further scrutiny tied to her prosecution.
