Israel's Shin Bet security agency announced on the evening of 8 September 2026 that it had foiled what it called a "significant and extensive" terror network operating in the West Bank and Jerusalem, saying roughly 30 suspects had been detained in the operation. The announcement was made as tensions in the territory ran high amid settler violence, Israeli military raids and the international dispute over settlements. Separately the same day, Israeli police said they were investigating an arson attack in a Palestinian village and had arrested a fourth suspect over an assault in Qusra, while the military said it had detained three Palestinian Authority police officers accused of operating in Area C and beating an off-duty Israeli reservist. Taken together, the incidents illustrated the deteriorating security situation across the West Bank and the friction between Israeli forces and PA security personnel.
