Scientists combined NASA's Hubble and James Webb Space Telescopes for the first time to study Trans-Neptunian Objects (TNOs), some of the smallest and faintest bodies ever directly observed in the outer solar system. The joint observations allowed researchers to detect objects at the very limits of current telescope capability. Unexpectedly, the team found fewer small TNOs than predicted by existing models, a finding that could reshape scientists' understanding of how material in the outer solar system formed and evolved over billions of years.
