New global estimates show nearly 21 million people were diagnosed with cancer and 9.8 million died from it in 2024, with about 1 in 5 people worldwide expected to develop cancer in their lifetime. Cases are projected to climb 67% to 34 million by 2050, driven largely by population growth and aging.
