Ukrainian drones struck targets in Russia's Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, a key gas-producing region located roughly 2,800 kilometers from Ukraine, marking the first such strike in the area, according to regional governor Dmitry Artyukhov. The attack demonstrates Ukraine's expanding long-range strike capability deep into Russian territory. Ukraine's Special Operations Forces confirmed they struck the Novy Urengoy and Purovsky gas condensate plants near Russia's unofficial gas capital, calling it the deepest strike of the war at nearly 3,000 kilometers. Russian media reported the drones caused a fire at an industrial site in Novy Urengoy, the first such attack on the Yamal gas hinterland.
