Following its full 1.0 release out of early access after five years, Valheim's Steam player count surged to a five-year high, though it still fell short of the survival game's original early access peak popularity. The 1.0 update introduced new progression systems for players to explore. Among the new additions are Battle Idols and Protection Idols, which grant combat and defensive buffs, along with the Forge of Potential, a new crafting location that allows players to further upgrade their gear beyond previous limits.
