The United States and Iran continued trading retaliatory attacks on maritime targets, with Washington striking Iranian oil tankers in response to Tehran's attacks on US warships, and Iran claiming to have hit US-linked vessels. The clash has pushed Brent crude oil prices above $100 a barrel amid fears of a broader disruption to Gulf shipping. The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that four unknown projectiles struck two vessels roughly four nautical miles west of Oman's Khasab, setting one ablaze and leaving the condition of the second unclear. The incident, near the Strait of Hormuz, adds to the string of maritime attacks linked to the escalating US-Iran conflict and has heightened concern over the safety of shipping lanes in the area.
