On September 11, the European Commission approved €6.1 billion for Ukraine as part of its overall €90 billion loan program, earmarked for purchasing drones and PAC-3 interceptor missiles for Patriot air defence systems. The bloc is preparing to disburse the next tranche of €4.3 billion. EU Defense Commissioner Andrius Kubilius confirmed that the European Commission has specifically lifted a restriction that previously limited the Ukraine Support Loan program to European-made weapons, allowing Kyiv to use the funds to buy PAC-3 interceptor missiles and other air defense systems and drones from non-European suppliers, significantly expanding Ukraine's procurement options.
