Guards at Moscow's pretrial detention center No. 4, known as "Medved," have begun requiring defense attorneys to remove their underwear during security checks before meeting clients, according to defense attorney Anastasia Georgievskaya. Women are told to remove bras and men to lower their pants as part of the checkpoint procedure. The measure has drawn criticism as an escalation of restrictive and degrading practices within Russia's penal system, which has intensified pressure on lawyers representing detainees, including many held on war-related and political charges.
