NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory, in combination with other telescopes, released a new image of the II Zw 096 system showing two galaxies merging at a furious rate, captured in an August 25, 2026 observation. The composite image highlights powerful black hole activity and hot gas revealed through X-ray data.
