Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on September 12, 2026 that a fresh round of Russian strikes over the preceding 24 hours had killed at least three people and wounded dozens more across Ukraine, writing on social media that there had been almost constant strikes on Ukrainian cities and communities since the night. Ukraine's Air Force reported that Russia had used ballistic and cruise missiles together with 129 attack drones, including jet-powered Shahed-type drones, and said air defences destroyed or suppressed 110 of the incoming targets. Strikes were recorded in roughly 20 locations nationwide, with damage reported to civilian buildings and infrastructure. The barrage came a day after Russian strikes killed several people in Zaporizhzhia and other regions, part of an intensifying exchange in which Moscow and Kyiv have both targeted logistics, energy and economic infrastructure. The attack underlined that, more than four years into the full-scale invasion, Russia retained the capacity to mount near-nightly combined missile-and-drone salvos against widely dispersed Ukrainian targets. It also highlighted the strain on Ukraine's air-defence stocks, since even a high interception rate left roughly a fifth of the munitions reaching their targets.
