Russia's Leningrad region will introduce a uniform fuel-purchase limit of 30 liters per fill-up in the coming days, regional officials told the outlet Fontanka, without clarifying whether the cap applies per vehicle or per transaction. The move comes as roughly one in five independent and small gas stations in the region have stopped operating. The restrictions add to signs of strain in Russia's domestic fuel market, following earlier reports of shortages and rationing in various regions linked to the war and Ukrainian strikes on refining infrastructure. The measure highlights the growing pressure on Russia's energy distribution system more than four years into the full-scale invasion.
