Nearly a year after Hurricane Helene's catastrophic flooding, the Washington County (Tenn.) Sheriff's Office confirmed that remains found near the Nolichucky River belong to Nancy Tucker, a previously missing Helene victim. Separately, Pigeon Forge was awarded $25 million from the U.S. Department of Commerce to upgrade sewer infrastructure damaged by the storm, aimed at supporting the area's tourism-dependent economy. Together, the developments reflect the ongoing human and infrastructural toll of Helene, which continues to affect East Tennessee communities long after the storm's initial impact.
