Analysis of microscopic plant remains in Australia's Cloggs Cave reveals that GunaiKurnai ancestors used the site for ritual practices spanning as much as 25,000 years, deliberately burning gathered grasses in thin layers. A standing stone erected around 2,000 years ago and other ritual objects further support evidence that the cave was a long-lived spiritual site.
