Video assistant referee (VAR) decisions came under fresh scrutiny in English football this week. Brentford boss Keith Andrews, after his side beat Reading to reach the Carabao Cup fourth round, said VAR prevents referees from making decisions and called for more human judgment, while referees' chief Howard Webb admitted VAR did not even consider whether Enzo Fernandez was offside before Erling Haaland's controversial winning goal in Sunday's Manchester derby.
