France has submitted "Minotavr" ("Minotaur"), a film by exiled Russian director Andrey Zvyagintsev, as its official entry for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film, Variety reported. The Russian-language film previously won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival. Zvyagintsev, known for films critical of Russian society and politics, has lived in exile since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The selection highlights the continued cultural fallout from the war, with Russian artists in exile gaining international recognition even as domestic cultural institutions face isolation.
