Officials said the incidents occurred in close proximity but were reportedly unrelated events. Earlier in the day, two people were killed in the bus crash. Authorities have since confirmed that the helicopter was an NBCLA news helicopter that had been flying near the bus crash scene to cover the story. Among those killed were a journalist and the pilot, according to reports, though full identities have not yet been released.
