Asian Shadows has acquired international sales rights to Eddie Cahyono's drama "Ibuku," which stars veteran Indonesian actress Christine Hakim and Ayushita Nugraha and has been selected for the Competition lineup at the Busan International Film Festival. The film follows Sumiati, a widow in her 60s isolated in a small Javanese village after her husband's suicide, and her strained relationship with her daughter. The deal positions the film for a wider international rollout following its festival premiere, adding to the slate of Asian arthouse titles seeking global distribution this fall.
