Russia and Ukraine conducted a large-scale exchange of soldiers' remains on September 17, with Russia handing over 252 bodies to Ukrainian authorities and Ukraine returning 23 bodies to Russia. Ukrainian investigators and forensic experts will now work to identify the returned remains.
