UN-backed human rights experts said there are grounds to believe the United States committed war crimes when it launched strikes on a primary school in Minab and a sports complex in Lamerd, Iran, in February. The experts noted the US has not acknowledged carrying out the deadly strikes. A separate UN fact-finding mission further detailed the Minab school strike, calling it 'indiscriminate' and saying the US military acted 'recklessly' in attacking a site adjacent to an IRGC base, likely constituting a war crime. The same UN mission also said Iran committed 'gross human rights violations' during its crackdown on domestic protests, broadening the scope of the inquiry beyond the US strikes alone.
