Researchers found that a bacterium derived from kimchi can bind to nanoplastics under gut-like conditions, potentially helping carry them out of the body. In mouse studies, the probiotic more than doubled the amount of nanoplastics detected in feces, suggesting fermented foods could offer a novel route for reducing plastic exposure.
