New supercomputer simulations suggest that James Webb Space Telescope's mysterious 'Little Red Dots' from the early universe are black holes growing at extraordinary speeds. Extreme radiation may have created unusually massive black hole seeds that, aided by dense surrounding gas, grew dozens of times faster than black holes can today—potentially explaining how supermassive black holes formed so soon after the Big Bang.
