NASA scientist Robert Wagner discovered a new, unusually large lunar crater while conducting a routine data-quality check of Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter imagery. The bright spot, surrounded by a dark halo indicating recently disturbed surface material, is being described as a 'once-in-a-century' impact event.
