Wine production in Russian-occupied Crimea fell 24.7% year-on-year from January through August 2026, with sparkling wine output down 38%, according to data from Russia's Federal Service for Alcohol and Tobacco Market Regulation cited by Kommersant. Industry experts attributed the slump to fuel shortages and disrupted supply lines. The decline coincides with Ukraine ramping up attacks on the peninsula over the summer, which have disrupted logistics and fuel availability critical to agricultural and industrial production in Crimea.
