A vehicle loaded with explosives rammed into a mosque at a police complex in northwest Pakistan during Friday prayers, killing at least 16 people and injuring dozens more, according to police officials. The attack has not been immediately claimed, but militant groups including ISIL and the Pakistan Taliban (TTP) are active in the region and regularly target security forces. The blast adds to a pattern of militant violence targeting Pakistani security infrastructure in the northwest. Authorities are investigating the incident as casualty figures were revised upward, with reports indicating as many as 56 people injured in addition to the dead.
