Flooding around Malda in West Bengal, India, which began around September 17, 2026, has killed at least three people and left numerous villages, including the Bhutni region, still inundated. Erosion linked to the flooding disrupted river flow, worsening impacts in nearby areas. Separately, severe beach erosion was reported in Orange County, California, attributed to hurricane-related storm damage along the coast.
