GDACS recorded numerous moderate 'green' (low-alert) earthquakes across the globe on September 18, 2026, including magnitude 5.5 in the Kermadec Islands, 4.5 in Russia, 4.5 in Colombia (affecting up to 1.4 million people within 100km), 5.2 in Chile (affecting up to 8.7 million people within 100km), 4.6 in Vanuatu, 4.6 in Mexico, 5.2 south of Java, Indonesia, 4.8 in Puerto Rico (affecting 200,000 in higher-intensity zones), and 4.7 in Indonesia. All were classified at the lowest alert level with no reported deaths, injuries or major damage, though several occurred near densely populated areas, meaning millions were within range of shaking even though impacts were not significant.
